'BN reps in Terengganu dished out lands at nice spots'

Terengganu PAS said it has proof to show that many Barisan Nasional state assemblymen and members of parliament in the state have been given lands at strategic locations.

State PAS commissioner Abdul Wahid Endut said at a time when land disputes involving ordinary people had yet to be amicably solved, BN's representatives were easily awarded about 1-2 hectares of land each.

“We can prove that approval had been made and the government is aware of it," said Wahid at a press conference yesterday.

He contrasted the easy land approvals for BN representatives to the state government's confiscation of the land belonging to the Darul Bayan Islamic Primary School, which was then handed over to the village development and safety committee (JKKK) in Limbong, Dungun.

The Kuala Terengganu MP added that the land given to each BN representative was also strategically located by the beach.

“These lands were given as agricultural lots. They are very strategic, by the sea. We have evidences as well as photographs of these locations," said Wahid.

He said ordinary citizens were usually given one-eighth of an acre-wide land.

Based on this arrangement, Wahid said each approval of one-hectare land for BN representatives amounted to a denial of land to twenty applicants.
