Nude anti-Lynas picture draws MCA's ire

MCA is crying foul over an anti-Lynas illustration circulating throughFacebook, which depicts party president Dr Chua Soi Lek in the buff.

The illustration depicts a cleaver-wielding naked man with Chua's head superimposed, with the words "If Lynas is poisonous, I will cut it off" obscuring the private parts.

The term "I will cut it off" or "wo qie diao" in Mandarin is a colloquial term used by the Chinese to express contemptuous disbelief.

At a press conference today, Federal Territories MCA deputy chief Frankie Gan Joon Zin said the illustration was uncalled for.

He stressed that the four MCA cabinet ministers were working hard to make sure that the Lynas plant would not pose a danger to the public.

"I want to ask the author (of the illustration): Do you really hate MCA that much?

"If the Lynas plant is really hazardous, do you think MCA would accept it?" asked Gan.

He said that netizens are being mislead by certain groups which resulted in the "vicious" illustration.

He said netizens should show moral, cultural and religious values.

Gan said he first heard of the illustration in from a 10-year-old and later discovered it for himself on Facebook.
