KUALA LUMPUR March 2 — Jacky Chan Che Kwok, the deputy chairman of the Karamunting division of the PBS, was killed after crashing his vehicle into a road tanker in Sandakan today, Bernama Online reported.
According to the state news agency, the accident occurred around 12.30pm.
State police said Chan had been travelling in a convoy that was accompanying Batu Sapi federal lawmaker Datin Linda Tsen Thau Lin on her return from a trip to Pulau Bambangan.
Tsen’s husband, the late Datuk Edmund Chong Ket Wah, had also been killed in a fatal road accident in 2010.
According to eyewitnesses, Chan had been attempting to drive out of a junction before hitting the tanker. He was killed on the spot.
Chang Kim Fah, a photographer in the entourage, was also travelling in the SUV and sustained injuries. He is reported to be in serious but stable condition.
