PM Najib: EDL toll charge decision in 2 weeks

JOHOR BARU, March 9 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today his government will make an announcement on the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) toll charges in a fortnight, The Star reported.

There was an outcry when it emerged through a media report that the nearly completed EDL will force motorists travelling to Singapore via the Johor Causeway to pay almost five times the present RM2.90.

Motorists entering the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex without using the 8.1km EDL will have to pay a proposed RM6.20 as the toll booths will be located at the CIQ.

The change will see motorists commuting to Singapore paying RM15.30 per day.

The RM1.1 billion EDL, linking the North-South Expressway to the Johor CIQ, was developed by MRCB Bhd.
