Cars at Perak PAS ceramah splashed with paint

Vandals struck at an opposition ceramah again, this time at an event featuring former Perak MB Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin in Perak where eleven cars were splashed with blue paint.

The Bukit Gantang MP said he was addressing an audience of about 400 at a PAS ceramah in Kampung Sayong Lembah, Kuala Kangsar yesterday when he received a slip of paper informing him of the incident.

NONE“I was told that their cars were splashed with blue paint. The paint was splashed mostly on the headlights,” Nizar told Malaysiakiniwhen contacted.

The organisers and the owners of the vehicles have lodged police reports on the matter, he said.

One of the organisers who wished to remain anonymous said that prior to that, a small group of motorcyclists disrupted the ceramah.

“A Umno ceramah was also going on about 200m from our venue. Just before Nizar came, some of those from Umno were revving their motorcycle engines,” said the Kuala Kangsar PAS member.

“Just before the ceramah started at about 9pm, they were stopping people on the way there and asking if they were attending the Umno ceramah or PAS’,” he added.

He claimed that the Umno members were “trying to provoke” those who were attending the PAS ceramah.

A pattern of attacks

Yesterday, a  Pakatan Rakyat ceramah in Lembah Pantai was pelted with eggs and stones, which left several injured and bloodied.

A 12-year-old was allegedly hit by a “fist-sized flying brick” when the ruckus ensued during Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim’s speech.

Earlier this week, another Pakatan ceramah in Pekan Bangi, Selangor was disrupted by a group who threw stones at the crowd.

Last Saturday, a high-tea event in Merlimau that was scheduled feature Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan was blocked by protesters.
The attendees including DAP assemblypersons Khoo Poay Tiong and Tey Kok Kiew were pelted with eggs and stones as they were leaving.

The attack damaged several vehicles including Tey's, which was left with severe dents, a punctured tyre and a broken side-view mirror.
