Off-duty cops' car rams into PM official residence


Five police officer were injured when a car they were travelling in crashed into the metal gate of the Prime Minister's official residence in Putrajaya early today.

NONEThe police constables, aged between 20 and 22, and attached to the Shah Alam police headquarters, were warded at the Putrajaya Hospital, before one of them was discharged.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohmad Salleh said the five officers were not on duty when the crash occurred about 4am, adding that investigations centred on why they were at the vicinity of the official residence.

He said the car belonged to one of the police officers.

PM Najib Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, are currently overseas.

Meanwhile, the police are in the midst of tracking down 113 more people linked to the chaos during the Bersih 3.0 rally held in Kuala Lumpur on April 28.

NONESo far, 28 people have been detained after they surrendered or were picked up at their respective homes.

Earlier, the police had published 141 photographs of suspects in the media to facilitate investigations into the rally.

Mohmad said the latest arrests involved two people on Wednesday, at separate locations in Kulai, Johor and Kemaman, Terengganu.

"Initial investigations have indicated the suspects are linked to a political party," he said, declining to elaborate.

He was speaking to reporters after the launch of a police-meet-the-people programme, in conjunction with the 205th Police Day celebrations in Kerinchi today.
