Action should be taken against any police officer who injured or caused injuries to Fayyadh Afiq Albakry during last July’s Bersih 2.0, said the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam).
In its public inquiry report of the Bersih 2.0, Suhakam found that Fayyadh’s injury to his left cheekbone was very likely caused by the impact from a tear gas canister.
According to the report, video evidence supplied to the inquiry panel showed a police officer shooting a tear gas canister in the general direction of the crowd, and may have likely caused the injuries to Anwar’s bodyguard.
“Disciplinary action or legal action should be taken against any officials or members (of the police) who have inflicted or caused injury towards W27 (Fayyadh),” said the Suhakam report.
