Thosai Vs. Burger!

Thosai Vs. Burger!
  • It has been a while since I laugh out loud and this morning I did just that when I read that another NGO, Warga Aman wants to promote another popular dish in front of the Dato Khalid (Deputy IGP) house. I laugh even louder when the DIG suggest that it was to be done at field nearby as it may affect the traffic flow and pose an inconvenience to his neighbors. I believe Warga Aman decision is related to the “incomplete statement” by the IGP on the action of UMNO link NGO for opening a burger stall outside Ambiga house.

  • Funny as it may be and being a Thosai lover, I don’t mind taking a short drive for some free Thosai near the DIG house. I hope they will serve Rava Thosai. On Feb 27th February 2009, I wrote an email to Khalid who was the Selangor CPO back then when the media attacked him on some statements he made related to some issues. In my email, I wrote on the need to have a professional PR person to engage the media and learn on how to engage the media. I wrote back then engaging the media is not the same as giving instruction to his man. He replied my email and we shall not dwell on his reply.

  • In any case, I believe the UMNO and the burger sellers have made an ass of themselves. Therefore I see no reason for any party to emulate their act. Obviously Warga Aman would deny that it is a tit for tat kind of action but we all know the underlying and unwritten message. We should not stoop so low. We must have dignity and maintain our dignity. Why do we need to emulate burger sellers with their buns and the ex-servicemen with their buns! The question next would be whether anyone else would act similarly like the ex-servicemen. Perhaps some other association would come forward in topless and exercise in their folded up Vesti showing their buns and their “pregnant” tummy.

  • Fact remains that public relation is not Khalid best skills. However we must note that when he said that the traders did not break any law, he was referring to criminal law. If there had been a transgression into intimidation than it would have broken the law. What Khalid should have done is to add that however the traders perhaps broke the local authority laws. I am worried for Khalid. He is in line to be the next IGP and in the last few years, he has been making some politically sensitive statement that shows his political inclination towards BN and that is not good for the RMP.
