Najib calls FGVH listing detractors who accepted windfall ‘shameless’

PEKAN, July 6 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has described those who opposed the listing of Felda Global Venture Holdings (FGVH) shares on Bursa Malaysia but accepted the windfall from the listing, as shameless.
While taking a swipe at this group, Najib said a number of Felda settlers who also rejected the noble intention were traitors for trying to scupper the government’s plans at transformation and taking Felda to the global level.
“They tried to derail our plans to improve the lot of the Felda settler community including by issuing injunctions. But when we offered (the windfall) to settlers, they (detractors) were quick and shamelessly took the windfall.”
The prime minister (picture) said this in his speech before 10,000 Felda settlers at the launching of the Pekan Mini Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA) Show 2012 at Dataran Shahbandar, Bandar Dara in Chini, here, today.
Also present were Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar and his deputy, Datuk Chua Tee Yong.
Najib praised the settlers present at the event today, describing them as  fighters and champions for playing their role in taking Felda to the pinnacle of success.
He said transformation was going on now and would continue for the Felda settler community with the listing of FGVH recently.
“Who could imagine that FGVH’s share listing would create world history as the initial public offer (IPO) was the second biggest in the world after Facebook,” he added.
At the event, Najib also announced that the windfall of 5,000 each for settlers’ wives would be paid out from tomorrow in conjunction with the Settlers Day celebration. — Bernama
