Perakians won’t fall for Najib’s words

The state PKR says the locals still remember how the PM engineered the BN coup in Perak after the 2008 polls.
TAIPING: Perakians will not subscribe to Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s campaign of “You help me, I help you” in his attempt to win the silver state in the coming general election, claimed the state PKR.
“Perakians still remember how Najib engineered the take over of Perak from Pakatan Rakyat and the anger is still there,” said state PKR chief Dr Muhammad Nur Manuty.
The PKR chief alleged that the state Barisan Nasional feared that the opposition would re-take the state and therefore sought the help of Najib and his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin to influence the voters.
Without giving figures, Muhammad told FMT that Perak was the only state that had the most number of state visits by both Najib and Muhyiddin.
The PKR chief claimed that Najib’s “help” theory did not attract the voters because the people were aware that it was public funds that the premier was dishing out to woo the voters.
“Besides it is not the handouts of BN that the voters are now interested in but want change for a better government that is uncorrupted, transparent and accountable,” he pointed out.
PKR claimed that BN was now targeting the rural Malays in the state as it was aware that the Chinese voters fully supported Pakatan while the Indians seemed to be half-hearted.
However, the PKR chief said that BN was losing the support of the rural Malay voters as Pakatan had made inroads into many BN rural strongholds which were won by a slim majority.
Pakatan, he added, was gaining ground in rural areas like Larut, Kubu Gajah, Selama, Batu Kurau, Trong, Kamunting, Manjoi, Pengkalan Baharu, Sungai Manik and Tualang.
Muhammad claimed that more rural Malay youths who supported BN in the past, had now switched camps to Pakatan which was evident in the huge crowds that turned out for Pakatan ceramahs.
PKR was optimistic that it could seize 38 or more of the 59 state seats in Perak during the next general election.
