Court postpones RM100mil suit against PKR duo
Former minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's RM100 million defamation trial against PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli and women's chief Zuraidah Kamaruddin was postponed today, to allow time for technical issues to be ironed out.
The case will now be heard on Wednesday in the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
Zuraidah's lawyer Razlan Hadri said Shahrizat's legal team will now have time to study the respondents’ documents and to decide whether to agree with, or contest, the contents.
"All these are just boring technical issues," he told members of the media after emerging from chambers.
Rafizi's lawyer Ranjit Singh said the judge, Justice Vazeer Alam Mydin Meera, had also asked the respondents to reduce the number of witnesses to be called, from 72 at present.
The PKR duo were sued by Shahrizat for allegedly defaming her by linking her to the National Feedlot Centre scandal.
Rafizi and Zuraida had filed a counter-claim against her, also for RM100 million in damages.
