Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today uncharacteristically chose to remain mum over MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek's gloomy warning on the implementation of hudud.
"I don't want to comment," he said at the post-Umno supreme council meeting press conference at the party's headquarters this evening.
Najib was responding to Chua's commentyesterday that the implementation of the controversial Islamic criminal law would cost the country 1.2 million jobs.

Chua has repeatedly countered PAS’ explanation that hudud law would not affect the Chinese community, stating that it would have adverse affect on the economy and by extension all Malaysians.
This has, however, earned flak even from traditionally pro-establishment groups such as Perkasa, which claimed it is haram for Muslims to vote MCA for its remarks.
Committee formed to hunt saboteurs
On a separate matter, Najib announced the formation of a special committee to act against Umno members who sabotage the BN during the next general election.
“The special committee mirrors our intention and stance that strict action must be taken against anyone who acts against the party’s interests,” he said.
He said the committee will work out the definition of “sabotage” and it will include, among others, the action of supporting BN’s opponents, inciting Umno members to go against the party and abusing election funds.
Najib added the committee will be headed by Umno disciplinary committee chief Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen Tengku Ismail and comprise of party supreme council and disciplinary committee members and other selected individuals which will be decided in due time.
He explained that the special committee will be more proactive than the present disciplinary committee, with a focus on general election activities.
