Some 150 Pakatan Rakyat supporters protested outside MCA headquarters today to demand an apology from its president Dr Chua Soi Lek over his remarks that they deem hurtful to Muslims.
The protesters warned that if Chua failed to heed their demand within a week, a bigger protest would be organised to petition the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the constitutional head of Islam, to take further action.
The protesters chanted slogans and listened to speeches throughout the 40-minute rally, which was also attended by popular actress Abby Abadi.

The crowd also held up placards with the words ‘Jangan Hina Islam’ (Don’t insult Islam) and ‘Soi Lek wajib minta maaf’ (Soi Lek must apologise).

Twenty policemen were stationed at the scene but they did not interrupt the rally.
PAS information chief Riduan Mohd Noor, PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin and members of PKR-backed NGO Jingga 13 were also seen at the rally.
The memorandum expressed dissatisfaction on on Chua's allegations as follows,
- Chua claimed PAS' hudud will cost 1.2 million Malaysian jobs,
- Chua defended MCA Wanita vice-chairperson Heng Seai Kie'sremark on PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz allegedly condoning the rape of non-Muslim women who do not conform to the Islamic dress code.
- Chua claimed eight out of 11 countries which practise hudud, are the most corrupt, unstable and unsafe.
The crowd dispersed peacefully at 3.25pm.
