Noriah Kasnon appointed deputy women's minister

Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Noriah Kasnon has been transferred as the deputy minister of women, family and community development effective today. 

Chief secretary to the government Dr Ali Hamsa (right) said in a media statement yesterday that the transfer followed the expiry of Heng Seai Kie’s services as the deputy minister of energy, green technology and water on Nov 15.

“Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has agreed that Noriah Kasnon, the Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water be transferred as the deputy minister of women, family and community development with effect from Nov 20, 2012,” he said. 

Noriah had previously held the same post from March 2008 until April 2009.  

Ali said that in recognition of Heng’s experience and services, Najib, who is also the Women, Family and Community Development Minister, had agreed to appoint her as adviser to the ministry.
