IPOH – There was uproar at the Perak state assembly sitting today when a number of Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen raised the issue of alleged rewarding of land involving two Perak DAP leaders for appointing Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin from PAS as menteri besar after the 2008 general election.
The commotion started when Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib (BN-Slim) who was debating on the 2013 Perak Budget at the sitting, spoke on land issue in Perak.
Datuk Rosli Husin (BN-Trong) then stood up and asked for clarification on a piece of land in Kelantan alleged to have been given to two DAP leaders in return for appointing Nizar as menteri besar although DAP had won more seats than PAS in Perak in the 12th general election.
He said before the appointment, there was indeed a tussle between DAP and PAS over who should be menteri besar.
Wong Kah Woh (DAP-Canning) who was unhappy with the statement, challenged Rosli to show the evidence to his allegation outside the assembly hall.
“If (the) Trong (assemblyman) wants to show that he’s a real man and he has proof, he should make the statement outside to determine (the truth),” he said.
Khusairi then disclosed that the two buyers of more than 4,000 hectares of land in Gua Musang, Kelantan were Syarikat Efektif Kirana Sdn Bhd and Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham (DAP-Sitiawan) for logging purpose.
He alleged that the transaction also involved Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Meng (DAP-Pantai Remis).
He also questioned whether the PAS-led Kelantan government was also involved in ensuring that the party’s candidate was appointed as Perak menteri besar.
Nizar (PAS-Pasir Panjang) then stood up and claimed that he was offered the menteri besar post if he joined Umno after the 12th general election results were announced.
“Zambry (Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir) who was a state exco member then, had good relations with my elder brother. He had contacted my brother to offer me the menteri besar post if I joined Umno,” he said.
At this juncture, Zambry stood up and accused Nizar of lying once again and swore on the name of Allah that he never made the offer.
“I see that the Pasir Panjang assemblyman’s (Nizar) life today is full of lies. If I have to swear, I will swear and I am prepared to meet the person (Nizar’s brother),” he said.
Tan Sri Tajol Rosli Ghazali (BN-Pengkalan Hulu) then said that Zambry had no power in the appoinment of menteri besar as he (Tajol Rosli) at that time was the Perak BN chairman and Perak Umno liaison chairman.
Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan eventually asked Khusairi to continue with his debate. – Bernama
