Deepak sets conditions for Bar Council

Carpet merchant Deepak Jaikishan said he will help Bar Council with its investigations, but only after outgoing president Lim Chee Wee (below) completes his term.

NONEAt a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today, Deepak said he is imposing this condition after he had felt “slighted” by Lim's recent remarks.

“They have written to me and I will definitely write to them … I will deal with the new Bar Council president,” he said.

Deepak was referring to Lim'spress statement on Dec 18 last year, in which the latter promised that the Bar Council will investigate claims of malpractice against a lawyer who allegedly drafted private investigator P Balasubramaniam's second statutory declaration(SD).

Deepak said he had proof of the lawyer's involvement in the matter and would furnish it to the Bar Council once the new president has been sworn in.

The Bar Council had recently held their AGM and has chosen the committee members. The new president is now being chosen via internal voting and would be announced soon.

'Rafizi disturbing me'

Deepak also accused PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli of interfering with his work and wants the PKR official to get off his back.

“I am a little bit disturbed by Rafizi’s action,” lamented Deepak.

NONEHe contended that while Rafizi (right) is very skilled in his “cow business” expose, he should leave the LTAT landand SD declarations to those who are really in the know.

“He is not the Wizard of Oz, he cannot know everything that happened... He was not there. Allow me to give the true picture, because I was there.”

What he exposed, claims Deepak, is the truth, while what Rafizi has exposed is “subject to manipulation”.

He further accused Rafizi of milking the issue for political mileage and self promotion.

“Ask Rafizi not to interfere with my work. I don’t trust him,” Deepak warned PKR.

Deepak added that unless Rafizi is removed from his case, he will not work with PKR but has arranged to work with PAS and DAP instead, who he said had sent him wise and senior people to work with.
