Tee Keat's website hacked: I'm not stranded in Manila
PETALING JAYA - Former Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat is safe in Pandan and not stranded in Manila – as an email sent from his account would have one believe.
Apparently, Ong's email, pandanmp @yahoo.com, was hacked and the hacker sent an email to his contacts yesterday that the Pandan MP needed money after he was attacked in Manila.
The fake email stated that although Ong was not hurt, he asked that money be sent to help him pay for his hotel bills and flight fare to return home.
Ong responded on his official Facebook page refuting the fictitious email.
"I am currently well and healthy in my Pandan constituency. I was shocked but not too amused to learn that I was stranded in the Philippines and needed urgent help.
Please ignore the following email that was clearly done with mischievous, if not evil, intention," said Ong.
On Friday, theSun reported that according to Federal Commercial Crimes Investigation Department statistics, 2,481 victims were reportedly cheated through unsolicited emails, social networking and dating websites since 2010, with locals forming the majority of victims.
