A three-cornered fight looms in the Semeyih, Selangor state seat in after PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim announced its party candidate despite Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s (PSM) desire to contest there.
Serdang division chief Hamidi Haasan was named Semenyih candidate, opening up the possibility of facing PSM secretary-general S Arutchelvan (below) in addition to a BN candidate.
However Anwar has not announced the other seat in dispute with PSM, Kota Damansara presently held by PSM chairperson Nasir Hashim as negotiations are still in progress.
Elsewhere in the Selangor lineup there were few changes in the parliamentary and state seats, except for Kelana Jaya, Kapar parliamentary seats and Bukit Melawati state seat.
PKR Subang secretary Manivannan Gowin will contest Kapar while Wong Chen will replace Loh Gwo Burne in Kelana Jaya.
Kapar incumbent P Manikavasgam will shift to the Bukit Melawati state seat.

Meanwhile when contacted, Arutchelvan said Anwar had gone back on his promise to hold off the announcement on Semenyih until a solution with PSM was found.
“They don’t know who their allies and enemies are. And this would have a lot of impact in other seat (being negotiated) as well,” he told Malaysiakini.
