Ex-judge's extreme racism is "extremely irresponsible" - MCA

Ex-judge's extreme racism is "extremely irresponsible" - MCA
Remarks by former Court of Appeal Judge Dato’ Mohd Noor Abdullah that the Chinese community should expect a backlash from the Malay community for the former’s betrayal against them are highly regrettable.

As a former Court of Appeals Judge, Dato’ Mohd Noor should have exercised rationale, moderation and a sense of responsibility. He should stand up for social justice and justice as associated with his identity as being among the nation’s elite. However, not only are his comments unfounded, the extremely irresponsible comments are provocative and can incite race-hate.

When voters inclusive of Malay voters selected any one of the three parties in the Pakatan pact consisting of PAS, PKR and DAP on the ballot slip, can this be argued as a “betrayal” against the Malays? Therefore, the so-called “Chinese betraying Malays” argument holds no merit at all. Dato’ Mohd Noor’s alleged warning of a “backlash” which can lead to the destruction of racial harmony and social peace also is senseless.

As expressed by UMNO Member of Parliament Dato’ Shahrir Samad who retained the Johor Bharu parliamentary constituency as well as UMNO Supreme Council member Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, no blame should be levelled against voters of a particular community. The remarks by these two statesmen are rational and impartial which are a positive development towards our nation’s racial harmony.
