Guan Eng's wife goes bald over money politics

Penang caretaker Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said his wife made the drastic decision to shave her head bald because she had reached the height of anger at the fact money politics could be so blatantly practised in his constituency.

NONELim, who is DAP secretary-general, is defending his Air Putih state seat andBagan parliamentary seat in the mainland.

Speculation is high that underground betting to ensure Lim loses is ongoing, which had led to thehead-shavingprotest by his wife Betty Chew (right, in photo) and some 100 others, at the iconic Kek Lok Si Temple at 10am today.

"This is a contempt of the democratic process because they (those gambling) know no action will be taken against them,” he said after attending the head-shaving event today.

"There is this ‘so what’ attitude and they know they have the full backing of the authorities.

NONE"They have money, they have not been around for five years, but in the last five days they think they can buy the whole elections.”

Lim said he is leaving it to the people to decide if they want the election to be bought over by these unscruplous and dishonest people, be they developers, the BN or the 1Malaysia Penang Club.

"Will it be money or principles (that) talk?" he asked, adding that it was his belief that voters will still choose policies, ideas and their future, over money.

"Giving money now is not a plan for the future, because money spent here (will lead to) greater corruption.

"But you know money can sometimes have an effect. We have to wait and see. These people would determine and decide the future course of action," he said.
No 1Malaysia symbol on BN gear
NONEMeanwhile at a press conference in Penang, DAP's Datok Keramatcandidate Jagdeep Singh Deo (right)said he has written to the Election Commision (EC) to request its officers prevent BN party workers from wearing the 1Malaysia symbol on their head gears, caps or t-shirts, on polling day.
Jagdeep expressed hope that the EC would comply with his request and refrain from practising "double standards" when it comes to the BN.

"We hope your goodself will issue a notice of prohibition soon regarding this matter for the sake of fairness and justice in the 13th general election process," Jagdeep said in his letter dated today.
