KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 — The police will take firm action against those instigating the people to take to the streets to topple a legitimate government.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar (picture) said the action of organisers whose provocation was aimed at instigating the people was against the law of the nation and could cause unrest.
“It is indeed, dangerous, using provocation to urge the people to take to the streets... in our law, no one can change the government through non-democratic means. It must be done in a democratic way,” he said.
He said this after making a courtesy call on Armed Forces chief Gen Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin at the defence ministry, in conjunction with his retirement on Friday here today.
Ismail said he and his deputy, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, had thought of the best way to tackle the situation, including taking suitable action against the organisers who tried to create chaos. — Bernama
