Sivarasa wants Home Ministry to explain blogger’s claim on Sabah chaos

PETALING JAYA, May 3 — PKR’s R. Sivarasa today urged the Home Ministry to address blogger Milo Suam’s post that revealed a police document on foreigners out to chaos in Sabah.
The blogger was arrested under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) yesterday.
Sivarasa (picture), the PKR political bureau member, said the police had arrested Milo Suam, whose real name is Yusuf Al-Siddique Suratman, for posting a classified document, which was a police document dated March 6, 2013, that ordered the police and security forces to take security measures against 1,400 foreigners out to cause chaos in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau in Sabah.
“If they claim the document is valid, then the prime minister and Home Ministry have a lot of explaining to do about it,” Sivarasa told reporters at the PKR headquarters here.
“If the police stand is that the document is valid and the offence was under the OSA, why was this not revealed to the public?” said Sivarasa, adding that he has been in contact with Yusuf’s lawyers.
Sivarasa stressed that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) would repeal the OSA and replace it with a Freedom of Information Act if the coalition won federal power in Election 2013.
He also called for 29-year-old Yusuf’s immediate release.
In an April 23 blog post titled “Maklumat sulit: Pendatang asing bakal cetus huru hara di Sabah?” (Classified information: Foreigners will cause chaos in Sabah?), Yusuf released a police document that he said many people had also received through chain emails.
Yusuf, however, wrote that the police document could not be verified.
