Tee to face MCA disciplinary board

The MCA central committee has ordered the disciplinary board to look into Tee Siew Keong's acceptance of a state cabinet position in Johor.

Tee, the Pulai Sebatang state assemblyperson and MCA national organising secretary, is deemed to have breached the party's decision not to take up any government positions following its absymal performance in the 13th general election.
At a press conference today, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek said Tee had earlier informed the central committee that he would be taking leave of absence from all of the party functions at all levels.
NONEPreviously, Tee had publicly said that he had no choice but to accept the appointment as he was handpicked by the Johor sultan, who expressed his wish to see a multi-ethnic state cabinet.
On another note, Chua (left) said that all senators will also have to quit their positions.

MCA has four serving senators - Chiew Lian Keng, Chew Lee Giok, Lim Nget Yoon and Gan Ping Sieu.

On Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's decision to reserve the transport minister's position for MCA, Chua thanked him for respecting the party's decision.
He added that unless MCA holds an extraordinary general meeting to nullify its decision against accepting government posts, the party will have to maintain its stance.

Thus far, there is no proposal to do so, noted Chua.

MCA also announced that its central committee election will be held on Dec 12, while the annual general meeting will take place a day after.

Branch level elections will begin in July.
