UMNO AGAIN USING THE KING: 6 reports lodged over statements against Agong
The police have received six reports regarding seditious statements made against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on social media.
In a statement today, Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Amar Singh said the Kuala Lumpur police department has received reports from individuals representing six non-governmental organisations (NGOs) regarding the case.
"According to these representatives, they have read mutinous statements made against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on a Facebook page registered to a woman. This case will be investigated under section 4 (1) (b) of the Sedition Act 1948.
"The Kuala Lumpur police department advises the public to respect the law in the name of preserving peace. We will not hesitate to take appropriate action against any attempt to disrupt national security," said Amar.
Meanwhile, Bernama reports that the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association has lodged a police report alleging that the owner of a certain Facebook account insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Its chief activist, Datuk Nadzim Johan, who was accompanied by representatives of 10 other non-governmental organisations, lodged the report at the Dang Wangi police station at 10.54am today.
Later, speaking to reporters, he said police must act fast as more people would be emboldened to do the same.
