Former group editor of Umno's New Straits Times A Kadir Jasin said Prime Minister Najib Razak wants to be a hero like Batman saving Gotham, but unfortunately he has too many ‘Robins’ around him.
“Too many Robins, males and females – who are competing with each other for his love and affection, money and power,” wrote Kadir in his latest blog posting.
Kadir was responding to opinions that concluded that it was difficult to change Najib.
“I said to them that I have seen enough of the Mohd Najib Abdul Razak - starting 1977 when I interviewed him on the anniversary of his first year as an Member of Parliament – to think that he could be changed.
"So I told them, if the PM promises me a glass of water, I would not believe in his “janji ditepati” (promise fulfilled) until I drink the water and not be poisoned by it,” he said.

Explaining his metaphor, Kadir said he merely meant that many of Najib’s promises and implements were lost in translation due to the many “Robins” surrounding him.
As such, he called on UMNO members not to be too excited on Najib’s upcoming announcement this coming September 14 on “Strengthening the Bumiputera Economy.”
“For now, I shall temper my scepticism and cynicism with “baik sangka” (having good faith) and pray that the UMNO dreamers and hopeful Malay intellectuals are correct after all – that Mohd Najib can be changed without changing the PM,” he quipped.
