He said this after hearing submissions from the government lawyers, the Catholic Church and counsel representing Muslim groups in a packed courtroom.
Earlier, counsel Porres Royen, representing the Catholic Church, submitted that the Home Minister did not have enough material before him when he made the decision to ban the word "Allah" in the Herald.
"He did not have enough evidence to ban the word on the grounds of national interest and public order," Porres submitted.
He said the minister also imposed an unreasonable restriction on the publication as the word was intended for Christians.
"This ban was a gross violation of a constitutional right," Royen said in defending the 2009 High Court ruling in favour of the church. – September 10, 2013.
