An audio recording of the meeting between the headmaster of SK Seri Pristana and parents of pupils there reveals that no apology was tendered, says a school staff member.
"All the papers got it wrong," said the staff member, who did not want to be named. "The recording can prove that the headmaster did not apologise."
This was echoed by the school's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairpersonn Hussein Mohd Ariff, who was also present at the meeting on Monday.
"As far as I can recall, the headmaster did not apologise... perhaps the parents misunderstood," Hussein told Malaysiakini.
Yesterday, Malaysian Tamilan Today secretary K Gunasekaran claimed that he was informed by parents that the headmaster, Mohd Nasir Mohd Nooh, had apologised to them for the pupils being made to eat in a shower room during recess in the month of Ramadan.
The primary school in Sungai Buloh landed in the limelight after photographs of its non-Muslim students eating in the shower room appeared on Facebook.
When the matter drew a huge public outcry, parents, who highlighted the incident, complained that their children were being targeted by teachers.
