Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali has urged the government to make big changes, including correcting existing laws, to rectify weaknesses faced by bumiputra entrepreneurs resulting in them not being able to progress further.
Ibrahim was quoted in Utusan Malaysia as saying the affirmative action initiative for bumiputra entrepreneurs, to be announced by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak tomorrow, must be implemented correctly.
He said there has been a perception that such affirmative action of having bumiputras owning at least 30 percent control of the country’s economy, is no longer relevant.
“Such perception of affirmative action should be corrected,” he said, adding that the economic division to the Malays and bumiputras is still not fair.
“What we want to see is a rise in wealth of Malay and bumiputeras in total. If necessary, the wealth of bumiputras and Malays should account for 60 percent, as the group comprises the same amount of the population,” he said.
