PAS Beserah state assemblyman Andansura Rabu took a walk around his constituency recently and as expected, the people have started to complain about rising prices of goods following the recent fuel price hike.
In his visit to wet market Pasar Balok, Andansura said traders were complaining of rising costs as suppliers have increased their prices in adjustment to the 20 sen increase in diesel and RON95 petrol.
“In general, they said goods prices have risen. Except for fish, which is still at old price. That’s only because the supply is a lot these days,” said Andansura.
According to him, traders in Pasar Balok also expressed concern on how they could compete with big supermarkets nearby that sold similar items at a lower price.
As such, Andansura called on the government to pay attention to the plight of small traders whose businesses impacted by the recent fuel price hike.
“Find the best solution for them so that they can stay independent,” he urged.
