Tanda's poor showing a rejection of racism, says PAS

Tanda Putera's poor showing at the box office despite ample publicity given to the controversial movie indicates that Malaysians reject “extreme racism”, says PAS Youth.

The film's planting of racial sentiments has not been accepted by the people, argued PAS Youth secretary Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil.

Malaysians of all cultures and faiths, Khairul said, love peace and harmony, and they reject the narrow racial views portrayed by such movies.

“People reject history being politicised by certain parties. This is because Malaysians know history and understand the struggles made by past generations.

“The people will know the message being relayed in a film, and Tanda Putera's poor reception says it all,” Khairul added in a statement issued yesterday.

“Tanda Putera shows that one must be fair in making films that depict history,” he added when commenting on the film's poor showing in its second week of screening.
