‘I am a Sunni, a Muslim who follows the Sunni school of thought.” – That was PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu’s declaration after facing yet another vicious slander by UMNO, this time from its vice president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
In his closing speech at UMNO general assembly, Zahid had urged Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom to take action against “PAS number two” whom he accused being a Shiite.
In an immediate response to Harakahdaily, Mat Sabu said he would discuss with his lawyers before taking legal action against the Home Minister.
"I have not heard what he said, but I will discuss it with my lawyers first,” he said.
PAS secretary general Mustafa Ali meanwhile said the party would support Mat Sabu to take legal action against Zahid.
"I, as the party secretary general, have never received any reports on Mat Sabu’s involvement like he was accused. So for me, it is only appropriate for Mat Sabu to take legal action against Zahid,” said the PAS veteran.
