This is a very powerful dialogue. Its long but fascinating. To me the exciting part comes at minute 45:30.
Let me skew your thinking a little before you watch this dialogue.
This type of discussion cannot take place in any Arab or wannabe Arab country - especially countries like Malaysia. This type of dialogue can only take place in societies that uphold real "Islamic values" like thinking and intelligent discussion. In other words the negara maju lah.

This debate took place at the Oxford Union in the UK. Unfortunately even in the UK, the host Mehdi Hassan does speak like a Taliban mullah. Even at Oxford the "Club of Doomers" just cannot be normal.
There is so much that Mehdi Hasan takes for granted without thinking - shariah law, 'scholars' (may Allah protect us).
Please reserve your comments about the female speaker's identity. Ok it is Irshad Manji. This is an intellectual discourse. Just pay attention to the points she is making. Not her wardrobe or her other preferences. Anyway more comments from me after the video.
I completely disagree with the idea that the Quran has contradictions. Just show me one. I have been asking this question for 27 years now. Still no one has been able to justify this accusation against the Quran.
Modernity and being civil is not guaranteed by 'modern' clothing. However more traditional or tribal wardrobes can reflect on your behaviour. Carefully choosing my words here.
Please send in your coments. Lets be civil. Kepada brader-brader 'agamawan' cuba control emosi anda ok. Kalau tak faham perbincangan ini atau tak tahu apa nak cakap, lebih elok jangan cakap apa pun. Mungkin lebih baik begitu.
