The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) has advised Zarena Abdul Majid to file an application to verify her religion in the Syariah High Court.
Mais chairman Datuk Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa said this is because the application to verify the religion comes under the jurisdiction of the court.
"Mais, Zarena and her family had a meeting today to discuss the incident during her wedding reception at a temple on June 1.
"We advised Zarena to take the matter to the Shariah High Court. Mais and Jais (Selangor Islamic Religious Department) will help speed up the hearing," he said in a statement.
In the incident at 10.30am on June 1, Jais raided a Hindu wedding reception held at a temple in Petaling Jaya before detaining the bride.
According to the statement, Mais denied Jais raided the temple but only recorded a statement from the bride and family members without causing any problems.
The investigation was conducted as Zarena's religion was in doubt although she never practised Islam as she was converted by her Muslim convert father when still young. – Bernama
