Selangor's legal advisers will seek advice from the attorney-general to carry out the Sultan of Selangor's decree on the seized Bibles, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said today.
The Selangor menteri besar said this was following the meeting between the state government and the sultan on resolving the issue of the Bibles seized from the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM).
"The state secretary and I agreed that the state legal advisers obtain the advice from the attorney-general to carry out the sultan's decree," Khalid said at a press conference in Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Shah Alam.
On Thursday, the sultan had urged the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) to refer the case of the Bibles to the public prosecutors.
The sultan's private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir said he had called for the Bible tussle to be resolved through the courts.
Earlier, however, Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail had announced that Jais had erred when they raided the BSM and seized the 321 copies of Malay and Iban Bibles.
The A-G had also said there will be no prosecution against the BSM.
