UBANG - A woman had a close brush when a bomb exploded underneath her car while she was driving near her house in Kampung Baru Subang this morning.
Chong May Lun, 40, who was on her way to her workplace, said initially she did not expect the thunderous noise she heard around her car while driving along Jalan 4D in Kampung Baru Subang at 6.45am was due to a bomb going off.
"I am lucky because the bomb did not explode near the fuel tank or the driver's side," she told Bernama when met here.
Chong said the night before, her younger sister had passed through the same road and saw small object that looked like a stone but thought nothing of it.
"This morning I was passing through the same road when suddenly the explosion happened," she said.
The impact caused the rear fender of her Toyota Vios to come off and shrapnel had penetrated the boot and rear passenger seats.
Chong said she believed the bomb, located just about 10 metres from her house, was intentionally placed there.
"I help my elder sister run a restaurant...the motive could be business jealousy," she said.
Meanwhile, Sungai Buloh police chief, Supt Junaidi Bujang said the case was being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 3 of the Explosives and Corrosive Substances Act.
"We are trying to determine the type of bomb used," he said. – Bernama
