Commotion outside mansion Monday October 30, 2006
PORT KLANG: Two people were hurt during a commotion outside the controversial mansion built by Port Klang state assemblyman Datuk Zakaria Md Deros at Kampung Idaman in Pandamaran.
This followed a scuffle between two groups; one supporting Zakaria and the other comprising protesters from opposition parties DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat.
The commotion lasted about five minutes.
Police, led by Klang district acting OCPD Supt Mohan Singh, quickly moved in to disperse the crowd. There were no arrests in the 10am incident.
UGLY CONFRONTATION: Zakaria’s supporters and protesters gathering in front of the controversial mansion at Kampung Idaman in Pandamaran.
The road leading to the four-storey mansion was congested with vehicles and people, including local residents and other curious passers-by.
The commotion started as the protesters were unfurling banners to criticise the palatial house said to have been built without the approval of the Klang Municipal Council (MPK).
Supporters of Zakaria, who is also a council member, rushed out from the construction site and nearby houses to stop them.
At the same time, they shouted to pressmen to stop taking pictures.
Some of them rushed towards DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng who wanted to speak to the crowd.
Lim’s supporters, however, went to his aid and surrounded him.
The pro-Zakaria people continued to shoo away the crowd, shouting “Keluar (Get out)” and “Balik (Go back).”
Supt Mohan Singh said it was all over within 20 minutes after the police moved in to disperse the crowd.
He said two men lodged police reports after the incident for injuries and damage to a car.
Lim told a press conference outside Kampung Idaman later that the protest was planned as a peaceful gathering and not with the intention of threatening anyone.
DAP Youth chief Nga Kor Ming said the party would submit a report on Zakaria’s mansion to the Auditor-General.
Zakaria was fined a total of about RM24,000 for non-submission of building plans for his luxurious house to the MPK.
The Sultan of Selangor summoned him to the palace last Saturday and advised the assemblyman to resign as a municipal councillor.
Itu cerita bab Istana Zakaria Derus .. Sekarang dibawah pasal Istana Khir Toyo pula ....
... Mstar 3hb Ogos 2009
