Najib better than Anwar

Gerakan says Anwar’s brand of politicking shows he is arrogant and power crazy.

GEORGE TOWN: Gerakan today stressed that Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional chairman Najib Razak was far better a leader than Parliamentary Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong made a comparative overview of Najib’s efficient and decisive action in handling the MAS flight MH17 tragedy and Anwar’s poor leadership skills in the Selangor Menteri Besar crisis.

Mah, who is also MP for Teluk Intan, pointed out that the MB crisis exposed the poor leadership skills and decision making of PKR and Pakatan Rakyat’s de facto leader Anwar.

He said Anwar’s bulldozing and politicking to have his wife Wan Azizah appointed as the next MB showed he was arrogant and power crazy.

He also cited the alleged lie of “40,000 Bangladeshis being lined up to vote in the last general election”, saying it had exposed Anwar’s leadership flaws.

“He would do anything at any cost to become the Prime Minister of the country,” Mah said when officially opening the annual Gerakan Penang Delegates’ Conference 2014 at the state party headquarters today.

On the other hand, Mah said Najib’s effective handling of the MH17 tragedy and his many people-orientated programmes had stamp marked the premier’s leadership credentials.

He also expressed confidence that Gerakan would fare better in the next general elections in view of the influx of new talented young members into the party.

He added that Gerakan was always on the lookout for talented non-Chinese candidates to contest in the next elections.

He claimed that Gerakan’s struggle to rise again in Penang, after been trashed in the last two general elections, would be boosted by awareness among Penangites on the urgent need to have a political check and balance in the state.

Earlier, BN Penang chairman Teng Chang Yeow criticised Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and the DAP for having kowtow-ed to Anwar and PAS in the MB crisis, calling them mere followers who “…can’t think and decide on their own.”

He also noted their strange silence over the PAS state government’s ban on men from watching women playing netball in Kelantan.

This is yet another gender segregation policy by PAS, after enforcing similar “Islamic” laws in hair salons, cinemas and supermarket payment counters.

Saying “DAP supports hudud ala PAS”, Teng brought up the issue of a pre-election document signed by Lim as DAP secretary-general, where the party hid the fact that PAS could pursue its Islamist agenda if they ever came to power.

“…this was hidden from the Chinese community,” Teng told the delegates.
