Pahang Education Department told to retract letter sent to school.
KUALA LUMPUR: MCA Youth said today that the Pahang Education Department went overboard when it banned the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) at the Kuantan Chong Hwa School.
MCA Youth secretary-general Leong Kim Soon said it was nothing more than an act by little ‘Napoleons’.
“The decision on Kuantan Chong Hwa is under the sole discretion of Dong Zong and that the state Education Department should not have replied on behalf of the Education Ministry,” he said.
The school had received approval from the beginning that it would be running two streams.
MCA President Liow Tiong Lai and his deputy Dr Wee Ka Siong met Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday who further affirmed the status as an independent school.
Muyhiddin had already instructed the department to retract the letter.
