GEORGE TOWN - Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says Pakatan Rakyat leaders must subscribe to the rule of law and parliamentary democracy as well as respect the constitutional monarchy system in Malaysia.
"The words and actions of Pakatan leaders must reflect this conviction," he said when delivering his keynote address at Penang Institute's "Federalism in Malaysia: Design and Practice" conference today.
He said people are beginning to question whether the opposition pact's words and actions do indeed reflect these shared values and perspectives.
Anwar said some people are convinced that the rhetoric that is being spewed by some Pakatan leaders actually runs counter to these shared values.
Also present Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and state assemblymen.
Anwar, who is PKR de facto leader, said developments within Pakatan in the last two months have demonstrated a case of acute consensus deficiency flaring into open disputes and unwarranted washing of dirty linen in public.
"They should have been resolved amicably if all members (of the coalition) adhered to the shared values on a common platform," he added. -Sundaily
