najib perak1PASIR SALAK: Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak today visited Perak to have a first-hand look at the situation in the flood-hit areas.
He visited Kelantan on Saturday and Pahang, yesterday.
Najib flew from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh, arriving at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport in the Perak capital at about 11.30 am and came by road here to visit several flood evacuation centres housing evacuees from the Perak Tengah district.
He stopped by first at the relief centre at the Sungai Galah Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) training centre which has 654 evacuees from 168 families.
The prime minister then went to the relief centre at the Pasir Salak Mara Junior Science College here which has 1,023 evacuees from 267 families.
Najib was accompanied on the visits by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister and Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
At the two relief centres, Najib chatted with the evacuees as well as the staff of government agencies and volunteers on duty there and enquired about their health.
The prime minister, who was in casual attire and wore a light yellow cap, then went in a four-wheel-drive vehicle to look at the flooded places in several areas in Perak Tengah, including Kampung Gajah.
The number of flood evacuees in Perak has risen to 7,813 today from 7,539 last night. Perak Tengah has 4,220 evacuees housed at 20 relief centres.
