Strong Winds, Rough Seas Expected Until Friday
Strong northeasterly winds and rough seas in the waters, off Sabah, interior areas, West Coast and Kudat, Labuan and Miri in Sarawak are expected to continue until Friday.
Malaysian Meteorology Department, in a statement Tuesday, said the condition was due to typhoon Hagupit which brought strong northeasterly winds that was detected 883 kms from northeast Kudat, Sabah heading towards northwest with a speed of 10 kms per hour at 11 pm Monday.
The typhoon was detected at latitude 13.8 north and longtitude 120.8 east, said the department.
The coastal areas in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and east Johor are also exposed to rising sea water level until Wednesday.
The strong winds and rough sea condition are dangerous to all coastal and shipping activities including fishing and ferry services.
