A stranger on the street became violent when the victim refused to offer him a cigarette.
GEORGE TOWN: A real estate agent paid with his life all because he did not offer a cigarette to a man on the street here.
Chow Hup Keng, 41, was walking down Chulia Street at 7am last Friday, when he was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette.
When Chow refused to give him a cigarette , the man and his two friends assaulted him with helmets.
He sustained a broken neck and blood clots in the head due to a cracked skull. He died five days after the attack.
According to George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, Chow died at the Penang Hospital at 10.14pm Wednesday.
He said the pathologist report stated that he died due to blunt force trauma.
He added that the three men, aged between 32 and 50, have been remanded to facilitate investigations for murder.
