Usually when there is an investigation going on the people suspected to be involved will be asked to go on leave so as to prevent them from influencing the investigations and prevent evidence being tampered with or destroyed.
In the case of IMDB, investigations are being carried out by many parties - MACC, PAC and AG and the key suspect is Malaysia's CEO but he is still in command and all the parties investigating - MACC, PAC and AG - technically report to him. So how independent can the investigations be?
However there has been no call for him to step down temporarily not from the opposition or even NGOs and members of the public. Strange indeed! - MAILBAG
