The section covers offences that threatens parliamentary democracy, but Gobind, who is also Puchong MP, said the police's use of the law in recent days was based on a very wide interpretation.
"Expect to see this section being used more often, until and unless the courts define and determine the ambit as to what is threatening parliamentary democracy," the DAP legal bureau chief said.
Gobind was speaking to reporters today after representing three activists who were arrested and remanded under Section 124 for planning to organise a rally demanding the arrest of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak last Saturday in Kuala Lumpur.
A person convicted under Section 124 can be sentenced up to 20 years in prison.
"In this case they held a press conference, so we need to know how that threatened parliamentary democracy, directly or indirectly," he said.
Gobind also said that from his understanding, the provision was never used before and it was originally intended to protect the Parliament and to enhance parliamentary democracy.
DAP will organise a forum next week to discuss the ambit and repercussions of the law, he added.
