KUALA LUMPUR - The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry has denied it is organising a pro-polygamy programme, labelling the advertisement promoting the event as fake.
This after a digital banner bearing the ministry’s insignia advertised a programme entitled “Program Bersepadu 1 Ayah 2 Ibu” (One father two mothers programme) made the rounds on social media.
In a statement, the ministry said it had lodged a police report as well as a complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission regarding the matter.
“The ministry is also disappointed by the fact that its logo, name and website was used by certain parties in the programme’s poster.”
It went on to urged members of the public to stop spreading the fabricated poster.
Polygamy in Malaysia is restricted to Muslims only, with men being allowed to take up to four wives.
