ROYAL SYMPATHY FOR MUHYIDDIN, REBUKE FOR NAJIB: True leaders don't create more followers, they create more leaders - Johor Prince
Former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin received a thumping morale booster from the Johor Sultan who summoned him for a private audience over his shock sacking from the Cabinet by Prime Minister Najib Razak.
It is not clear what transpired during the hour-long meet, also attended by Johor's outspoken Crown Prince Tunku Ismail and Mentri Besar (Chief Minister) Khaled Nordin.
However a picture posted by Tunku Ismail showing a beaming Muhyiddin posing alongside with royal family has gone viral.
In what appears to be another rebuke against Najib for Muhyiddin's controversial sacking, Tunku Ismail had also posted the caption 'True leaders don't create followers, they create more leaders'.
Controversial pic
Muhyiddin, a Johor boy and MP for Pagoh, had criticized Najib's handling of the 1MDB financial debacle and demanded the PM come clean on allegations that RM2.6 bil had been diverted into his personal accounts at AmBank.
Najib had said he had 'no choice' but to drop Muhyiddin as he needed a deputy who would toe his line.
The sacking has split their ruling Umno party, with the Johor divisions backing Muhyiddin and demanding his reinstatement.
Even former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has snidely announced it was now 'a crime' to talk about 1MDB and question its dubious deals.
Nonetheless, Muhyiddin has vowed to continue to speak up on the 1MDB debacle, which many financial analysts have blamed for plunging the stock market and pushing the ringgit value to fresh lows against the US and Singapore dollars.
Royal sympathy
According to The Star, Muhyiddin and his wife Puan Sri Norainee Abd Rahman were seen entering the Istana Bukit Serene palace grounds using the back entrance from Jalan Kolam Air at around 3.30pm.
Muhyiddin, wearing a red baju Melayu cekak musang, and Norainee, in a matching red baju kurung, rode in a black Audi car belonging to Sultan Ibrahim.
Also present during the audience were Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Sultan Idris Shah, Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Muhyiddin and Norainee left the palace in the same car at around 4.35pm using the main entrance along Jalan Skudai.Malaysia Chronicle
