A villager saw the blaze at 5am and by the time the owners went to the scene the pen was destroyed.
IPOH: A couple suffered losses amounting to RM100,000 when their goats were burnt to death after the pen in Jalan Parit 13, Ayer Deras near Teluk Intan, about 100km from here, caught fire yesterday.
The wife, Zuraida Hamid, 34, said a villager saw the fire at 5am and the pen was already ablaze then.
“My husband and I rushed to the pen located one kilometre from our house. By then all 68 goats were already dead,” she told Bernama.
The couple have been breeding goats for 30 years and the animals were sold at between RM950 and RM1,200 each.
Meanwhile, Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Assistant Superintendent Aizal Amri Abdul Rahman said the station received a call on the incident at 5.30am.
“Upon arriving at the scene, the pen was 95% destroyed and the animals dead,” he said.
The cause of the incident was still being investigated.
