MALACCA - A non-governmental organisation (NGO) headed by Ali Baharom or Ali Tinju has threatened to hold a mass gathering at an entertainment enclave here if no action is taken against those who assaulted three state enforcement officers.
Ali, who now heads Gerakan Merah 1 Malaysia, pressed for stern action against those who assaulted the Immigration Department officers during a raid at a watering hole at Taman Melaka Raya on Sept 30.
"Those who were guilty of manhandling the officers should surrender themselves or witness a mass gathering of our NGO members at Taman Melaka Raya soon" he warned in an impromptu press conference at the Home Ministry complex in Ayer Keroh here Friday.
Earlier, 30 of the NGO members wearing red T-shirts visited the three officers at their working station at the complex.
On Sept 30, some 40 thugs manhandled the officers in the raid at the entertainment outlet during the 9pm operation.
State Immigration Department deputy director Abu Bakar Sidek Hassan said the officers were part of 19 enforcement personnel involved in Ops Ingkar on that day.
He revealed that 12 female foreigners aged between 19 and 28 were arrested.
Malacca police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye said police were probing the incident. - ANN
