RM100,000 superbike never comes back after test ride

Suspect outpaced shop employee trailing him, says outlet owner.

NIBONG TEBAL: A man who was test riding a high-powered motorcycle escaped with the machine in Taman Jawi Jaya, Sungai Jawi, Nibong Tebal here, yesterday.

The man, in his 30s, rode off with the white Honda CBR 1000RR after he went for a test ride at about 4.30pm.

The motorcycle shop owner, who only wanted to be known as Tong, 52, said initially he did not allow the motorcycle, costing almost RM100,000, to be test rode as it was raining heavily.

“The man came to my shop alone and said he wanted to buy the motorcycle but had to test ride it first. I believed him when he promised to take a ride around Taman Jawi Jaya only,” he said here today.

Tong said one of his employees was trailing the motorcycle as he was worried that the machine would run out of fuel.

“After a few minutes, my employee came back and told me that the man had fled with the motorcycle,” he said.

Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Selatan police chief Supt Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad when contacted confirmed having received a report on the incident.
