Solicitor-general didn't resign, opted for early retirement

Former solicitor-general Azailiza Mohd Ahad did not resign but she took out the option for early retirement, chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa said today.
"It's not a resignation. Azailiza is still in service.
"She wanted to opt out because every civil servant has this right, whether to wait until 60 to retire or they can also can opt out after the age of 50.
"It's just normal because she has other plans to do. (It's) early retirement basically," Ali Hamsa said when met by reporters after the annual general meeting of the Association of Administrative and Diplomatic Officers in Putrajaya.
Azailiza clocked out on April 8, according to a posting under the photo gallery in the website of the Attorney-General's Chambers.
She was appointed as solicitor-general on Nov 1, 2014.
Engku Nor Faizah takes over
Azailiza has been replaced with deputy solicitor-general II Engku Nor Faizah Engku Atek.
The solicitor-general serves under the attorney-general and has the power to act as public prosecutor in the absence of or the inability of the AG to act.
Ali Hamsa also said he does not know why Azailiza had opted for early retirement.
"I don't know what's her plan, but right now she is taking care of a lot of government business, a lot of international and legal matters," he said.
Asked whether she had been transferred out of the AG's Chambers before she decided to leave, he said this was an irrelevant question. -Mkini
